outsource (v): to obtain (goods, a service, etc.) by contract from an outside source; to contract (work) out.
offshore (v): to move or base (a business operation) abroad
While both words mean to transfer jobs to an outside supplier, "outsource" means to transfer only certain work, whereas "offshore" means to transfer a lot of work, as in a whole company or department.
If outsourcing typified globalization 1.0, then offshoring typifies globalization 2.0.
outsource. offshore
