The Power of Punctuation

An English professor wrote the following sentence on a chalkboard in class, and asked his students to punctuate it:

“A woman without her man is nothing.”

All the males wrote:

“A woman, without her man, is nothing.”

All the females wrote:

“A woman: without her, man is nothing.”
